This project was done in collaboration with Nandakumar N and Shubra Agarwal under the guidance of Hitesh Chaurasia, Festival Director, Alpavirama and Savyasachi Anju Prabir (Festival Coordinator).
We were responsible for designing the visual identity and narrative of the 6th edition of the festival, which was scheduled from 7-12 November 2022. The theme for the year was an eye for change: looking at the change in recent times in filmmaking and film viewing through the eyes of young filmmakers.
At its core, the visual identity relies on circles with a paint stroke texture, serving as the most fundamental element for its effective communication.
These circles seamlessly come together to form an eye, coexisting with the Alpavirama logo—a symbol capturing the essence of perception.
Journey through Iterations:
The poster concept draws inspiration from the keywords: eye, window, metamorphosis, and film. The design embodies focus, curiosity, and an openness to diverse perspectives. Circular elements symbolize camera lenses, the eye's pupil, and a keyhole—representing growth and transformation. The primary color palette features blue, orange, and yellow, while the overall identity of Alpavirama incorporates vibrant, bold hues to capture the youthful energy it celebrates.
The visual identity, once created, was handed over to the Alpavirama team, who took it further to screens, social media, print, promos, and other deliverables.
