BarsaatA 3D upcycled Illustrated Book made with trash.

COMPOSITIONILLUSTRATIONMATERIAL HANDLING

Barsaat (which translates to rain in English) is an adaptation of a Vernacular Poem of India. This poem talks about the events that occur on a rainy day in a small fictional village in India.

This book is made using different kinds of waste material as a medium of Illustration. Here I’ve used textile, Aluminium Sheet, Cardboard, Newspaper, and more. This is my attempt on reflecting the indigenous nature of this poem using upcycled material as a form of art.

: Manglu ran outside, Aunty inside did glide.
: Cow startled, dog fled, in the chaotic stride
: The mason, at dusk, veiled the construction site with a filthy rag.
: Then shielded the tank a broken cot his makeshift flag.
: In the open air, clothes sun-dried & unbound,
: Manglu struggled as they fluttered & scattered around. ...
: Aunty with care, shut doors and windows so tight,
: Under the bed, she sought refuge from thunderous lightenings might.
